Typha
Co-Artist:
Puya Khalili
The story of a place begins with its flora and fauna.
After a 5 year long process, Typha is a slender stainless steel marker in Richmond. Telling a story about the existing landscape and history of the site. Typha or bullrush, has ancient origins, existing in marshes long before the
presence of human inhabitants.
These plants follow riverbeds and streams and can be read as signifiers of water in landscape.
They are markers of the watery existence of the land that makes up the city of Richmond.
