Door #1

A free-standing door is placed in the middle of a room and it rotates freely along the axis of the hinges. Two pieces of chalk are attached to the base of the door and trace the movement of the door as it circles around the base.

Project Status
Where doors normally create inner and outer spaces; and form the crossing of a threshold, Door #1 is a door which beckons the observer to walk through, where the experience of crossing a threshold turns into a perpetual movement in circles.

The installation strives to encourage the observer through participation to experience the outcome intended by the artist.
“Most people would finish the circle and then have a compulsion to finish it again”
